Synthesis
Every coin
has two side, when some people believe that using PEDs is bad because it hurt athlete’s
health and also because it is a kind of cheating, some athlete still use PEDs
to win. Another group of people consider cheating athlete should face a high
fines to rewards clean athletes who does not use PEDs drugs and to pay for the
drug test. Many athletes reduced their careers and retired early because they use
PEDs blindly. In another words, many athletes do not know risks of using PEDS
for their bodies and careers. As Goodman (2012) says, “We must include athletes
in this debate, and educate them about risks.” Instead of focusing solely on
the fairness of the game or the spirit of the sport, we should pay more attention
to the athletes’ education about the risks of using PEDs and the health of the
athletes. However, some athletes are so eager to win that they take all the
risks and use PEDs. Rewarding clean athletes is an important
way to motivate athletes not to use PEDs and cheating athletes should face big
fines to pay for the drug test and the Reward for clean athletes. As Bradbury
explains “Instead of focusing on just the cheating athletes, we should do something
to reward the clean ones and give athletes an incentive to abstain ” and “Instead,
we should implement fines for positive drug tests that will be used to pay
restitution to athletes who stay clean ”. In sport competitions, the rewards
are great and the winner takes all the glory. In order to create a fair game
environment, we should set up a strict system of rewards for clean athletes and
punishments for cheating athletes. Risks education of using PEDS for athletes
is also important.
